This new resource will also allow for the Museum of Guarda to expand its influential power, opening up thus to a multidimensional discourse on its objects and historical events. It is also a place for change and improvement and a platform to support and stimulate the experiencing of new experiences and behavioural changes.
While an institution at the service of the general society and its development, it is a multicultural space that represents its district and its population. It promotes the research on Humankind’s material documents and environments, at the same time that it obtains, preserves and exhibits them in order to further its employment as a tool for education and entertainment. It contributes for the promotion of our heritage and it undertakes the role of a platform for cultural development that aims at a direct communication with the community in which it’s integrated.
In order for our mission to become reality, the Museum does not limit its actions to its permanent exhibition. Its cultural dynamics reveals itself through variegated activities such as temporary exhibitions, itinerant exhibitions, debates, courses, publications, concerts and other actions.
The Museum is today a place for the interactive practices of the local community’s cultural life, disclosing permanent forms of Portuguese culture in its most multiple facets.
Now that the new technologies allow for this new approach, we hope that your browsing through the site will whet your appetite for a physical stopover at the Museum premises.
We will be here waiting for you to make your visit as pleasant as possible.

Welcome… and have a nice browsing.
